Review: Saltie Girl Boston

Saltie Girl in Boston

Saltie Girl is located in Boston’s Back Bay, in the heart of the best shopping area Boston has to offer. You may recognize it from our list of best restaurants in Boston.  They’re not on Opentable and the waits can get pretty long, but like most things in life, this one is worth the wait. We decided to try it for a late lunch and found a sweet spot of a vibrant crowd with a few empty seats left for us to snag.

Once we were seated in our oversized booth, we were able to take in the cozy nautical vibe. After seeing a stream of eye catching cocktails pass us, we knew we had to indulge. We decided to share The Pineapple, served in a pineapple shaped copper mug sized for two. This drink was the perfect combination of beach inspired and a hint of spice.

To start, we decided to share the snow crab avocado toast. As basic as this sounds, it was anything but. Crusty toast piled high with crab, pistachios, stracciatella cheese and perfectly ripe avocado slices – this dish set the bar high for the rest of what was to come.

Next we tried the torched salmon belly, which was similar to nigari sushi but with a light char that left a smoky aftertaste. With a touch of wasabi, this one had a bit of a kick, so if you’re not into spice, beware.

Last – but certainly not least, we had to try the lobster and waffle. The portion was very generous – huge chunks of lightly fried lobster on top of a buttery waffle. You may be thinking – lobster, with maple syrup? But don’t question it, just try it.

At the end of the meal, we were happily stuffed, knowing we’d be heading back soon to get more of this delicious spot. So next time you’ve built up an appetite while shopping Newbury Street, or you just want great seafood, give Saltie Girl a try.
